Vodafone launch mobile phone recycling scheme
One of Irelands leading mobile phone operators, Vodafone has launched
a new nationwide mobile phone recycling scheme, that will encourage consumers
to re-use their unwanted mobile phones where possible or to recycle them
in the specially designed containers that will be placed in selected Vodafone
agent outlets nationwide.
With the haulage industry relying heavily on mobile phones to conduct
business, Vodafone would be expecting a large recycling of the industrys
phones.
Vodafone is committed to conducting business in a socially and environmentally
responsible manner and one aspect of this is ensuring as little negative
impact as possible on the environment in which we operate, said
Maire OSullivan Corporate Relations manager, Vodafone.
Vodafone is been partnered in this initiative by Conservation Volunteers
Ireland, an organisation that works towards enhancing and protecting the
natural environment.
The proceeds raised from these recycled mobile phones will be donated
to the recently established Vodafone and Conservation Volunteers Ireland
Nature Fund.
