Company fined for exceeding time limit
A Newcastlewest based company was fined a total of Eur2,400 at a sitting
of the local court after they were found guilty of exceeding the permitted
time limited on four different occasions.
Judge Mary OHalloran heard that a driver for Autotrans Ltd, Cullanagh
Lodge, was stopped in Dublin and his tachograph registered four breaches.
State solicitor Aidan Judge said that the offences occurred on April 26,
2001; May 1, 2001; May 15, 2001, and June 12, 2001.
The court heard that the driver no longer worked for the company which
was family owned and was set up twenty three years ago.
The company has undergone two inspections over the last 18 months and
all vehicles passed the examinations, the latest of which took place six
weeks ago.
The court heard that Autotrans Ltd had a good record and this was not
an on-going situation. The maximum fine is Eur1,269.74, and Autotrans
Ltd was fined Eur600 on each count.
