Worn tyres are road safety risk - ITIA claims
Some 200,000 cars in Ireland are running on excessively worn tyres, the
Irish Tyre Industry Association (ITIA) has claimed.
The minimum legal thread depth for tyres is 1.6mm, but the ITIA claims
that hundreds of thousands of cars are fitted with tyres that fall well
below the legal requirement.
The ITIA made it's claim in a new brochure promoting tyre safety. The
brochure also reveals that under-inflated or indeed over-inflated tyres
also represent a road safety risk. The brochure is being distributed free
of charge through 200 ITIA outlets throughout the country.
The advice is: drop into an ITIA dealer, get your tyres checked for free
and pick up a brochure.
