A form of madness
Four out of five drivers caught for speeding failed to fill out the fine
payment form correctly at the first time of asking, according to reports.
It seems the penalty points system for speeding is causing widespread
confusion amongst motorists. Evidence of the problems emerged in Dublin
District Court yesterday (April 23) when the first raft of motorists,
caught for speeding since the introduction of penalty points, had their
cases heard.
Sgt Nicolas Mulhall of the fixed fines penalties offices told the court
that 80 per cent of all forms with payments were not completed properly,
and were returned to the motorist involved.
