Judge wants young drivers to see "Crash" film
A district court judge wants all young drivers to view a recent RTE TV
programme entitled "Crash", which highlighted many of the horrific road
crashes of recent times.
Judge James McNulty was speaking at Lismore District Court after hearing
evidence that a garda patrol car clocked speeds of 105-110mph but still
couldn't catch up with two cars being driven by two young men aged 20
and 21.
Brian Leahy, 21 from Bishopstown, and Tomas Mullally, 20, from New Ross,
admitted driving at speeds in excess of 90mph, but pleaded not guilty
to dangerous driving. Judge Mullaly reduced the charge to careless driving,
and fined the pair E350 each.
