Brennan still at odds with insurance companies
The Department of Transport and the insurance industry are still locked
in talks on how best to reward drivers that don't clock up penalty points.
Transport Minister Seamus Brennan said he wants motorists who avoid penalty
points to be rewarded with a 10 to 15 per cent reduction in premiums.
However, insurance companies are resisting the move. Minister Brennan
has given the industry one last opportunity to come up with an agreed
formula.
Minister Brennan said he would hand over the National Driver File, which
holds penalty point information on every motorist in the state, to the
company that offers the best discount, if the insurance industry fails
to come up with an agreed proposal.
