Brennan warns on speeding
Transport Minister Seamus Brennan has warned motorists that they will
face a new anti-speeding blitz in the wake of the National Roads AuthorityÕs
report, which found that 99 per cent of all drivers break the speed limits.
The Minister said the figures showed a high level of non-observance of
speed limits and justified his decision to introduce penalty points.
ÒMy strategy in initially targeting speeding is clearly appropriate. I
know all the agencies involved will work actively on the enforcement of
the penalty points system in pursuit of our shared aims, which is to reduce
the death toll,Ó he said.
