Penalty points has had significant effect on drivers
- survey suggests
The introduction of the penalty points system for speeding has made a
significant impact on driver attitudes, new research suggests.
The survey conducted by Lansdowne Market Research and commissioned by
Semperit found that more than half (56 per cent) are driving "a lot more
carefully because of the risk of penalty points."
More than one in four drivers (27 per cent) admitted to changing their
behaviour on the road to a certain degree, while 17 per cent said they
hadn't changed their behaviour because of the introduction of the penalty
points.
The nationwide survey was conducted across all demographics and gives
a cross section of all driver opinion, according to its authors.
