Barry Training Services Celebrates 25 Years of RTITB Training)

Long standing RTITB accredited partner, Barry Training Services (BTS), is celebrating 25 years of delivering RTITB training to the workplace transport industry.

The company has grown from modest beginnings, offering RTITB accredited lift truck training and now offers a vast range of courses including RTITB Driver CPC, amongst others.

“We have been delivering Health and Safety Training to the industry for 25 years this year – this is a proud moment for us as a company that takes safety very seriously,” says Deborah Boyle of BTS. “We strive to continually meet the demands of the industry, providing the best level of service and training possible.”

Based in Barry in the Vale of Glamorgan, BTS is now a nationally recognised company, offering training across mainland UK and other European Member States including the Republic of Ireland, Holland, Denmark, Poland, Germany, Spain, Croatia and Turkey.

The company employs 25 staff members between two training centres in South Wales, a Head Office in Barry, and a satellite centre in Baglan, Port Talbot. Both of the training centres deliver RTITB Lift Truck Training plus other training courses. The 35,000 square foot training centre on a 3.5 acre site, boasts 10 classrooms and a fully equipped Asbestos Training area complete with a 30 metre tunnel run and lift shaft for Confined Space Training.

With 25 years experience delivering RTITB accredited training, BTS has recently expanded its services to provide foreign language instruction. A Polish RTITB registered  Instructor and a Polish Admin assistant enable the company to deliver its range of RTITB accredited courses in Polish and it offers other languages where possible.

Amongst the standard forklift and plant training, the RTITB accredited courses offered by BTS include reach truck, pallet truck and rough terrain training. The Welsh training centres have a range of equipment and trucks used for RTITB accredited training.

BTS also offers a dedicated RTITB Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) course, alongside offering Driver CPC hours through CIEH Emergency First Aid, ADR, Chemical Awareness and Manual Handling training. The Driver CPC certificate demonstrates a driver’s competence and requires them to undertake 35 hours of periodic training, which must be completed within a five year period. BTS can accommodate up to 20 trainees on the complete Driver CPC course, consisting of seven hours of periodic training completed over five days to total the full 35 hours.

RTITB accreditation ensures that trainees reach the highest standard of training available and comes with free registration on the NORS (National Operator Registration Scheme) database. The NORS database enables future employers to check the operator’s qualifications and details of training completed.

“Enjoying strong partnerships with our accredited training providers is very important to RTITB and we are proud to be celebrating 25 years with Barry Training Services, who has made an outstanding contribution to safety over the years,” adds Laura Nelson, Managing Director of RTITB. “We wish them the best in continuing to deliver the same high level of service and look forward to working closely with them for the next 25 years!”
