The Asgard Software E-Logistics Live Demonstration
There was a large turnout at the Asgard Software E-Logistics
Live Demonstration held in the Red Cow Moran's Hotel on Tuesday
and Wednesday, 10th and 11th of October respectively. There were
a large number of delegates from a wide range of companies - warehousing,
distribution, freight forwarding, haulage, banking and consultants.
The E-Logistics Live Demonstration was opened by Sharon OSullivan,
Business Development Manager with Asgard Software, who thanked
everyone for coming. Helen Rahill, Asgard's MD, presented the
E-Logistics Live Demonstration with Doug Notley, newly appointed
Non Executive Director with the company.

The Demonstration
The demonstration consisted of four main participants in the demonstration
process. This demonstration shows that the order is not re-keyed
at any stage from the initial placement of the order by the Buying
Company, through to the delivery of the goods, thus saves time
for all members of the supply-chain, reducing the possibility
of errors and increasing their efficiency and profitability. (In
many cases, companies might warehouse their own goods; other companies
have third party warehousing and transport partners. The Asgard
Systems can cater for all variations).
The four main participants in the demonstration: -
-The Customer, demonstrated by Doug Notley
-The Selling Company, demonstrated by Edward Flanagan
- The Warehouse, demonstrated by David Watters
- The Freight Carrier demonstrated by Richard Dunne
Step 1- The Customer
Doug Notley places an order for wine to Edward Flanagan through
a website.
Step 2 - The Selling Company
Edward Flanagan receives the order directly into their accounts
system in XML file format. Their accounts package then checks
automatically for errors (the order might have been sent by mistake
more than once, the price might be wrong, the customers credit
might be overdue). The system highlights these questionable orders.
Eddie can then look at the orders, and with the click of a button,
accept the orders directly into their system. The system automatically
sends a picking order to the warehouse.
Step 3 - The Warehouse
David Watters receives the picking order directly into the Asgard
WMS warehouse management system. They scan the products out of
the warehouse using RF (radio frequency) terminals. They can then
print all the documentation relating to the order and automatically
send a freight booking to the freight carrier.
Step 4 - The Freight Carrier
Richard Dunne receives the order directly into their Asgard FMS
freight management system. They send an SMS message to their driver
to pick up the goods. The goods come back into the transit warehouse
for dispatch on another route (cross-docking). The vehicle is
tracked using GPS/Satellite Tracking. Immediately upon delivery
of the goods, the POD (Proof of Delivery) details can be sent
back to the freight company via the GPS/Satellite Tracking system.
When the signed hard copy of the POD is returned to the office,
it can be scanned and stored in the Asgard FMS system.
Track and Trace
At various stages throughout the above process, Doug Notley is
able to check where his order is by going to the live track and
trace system on the selling companys website.

I have been in this industry for over 12 years now and in
recent times I have seen Powerpoint presentations covering this
subject and heard experts wax lyrical on the possibilities, you
went a lot further and actually did it live! A great achievement
you put theory into fact! I strongly recommend you repeat your
presentation.
