Michelins new winter tyre range to combat the most extreme weather conditions

Since the very earliest innovations in tyre technology Michelin has held the position of world leader in the development of products that push back the limits of optimum tyre performance and safety. Michelin is now launching a new range of tyres specifically to combat the most extreme winter driving conditions faced by hauliers and their trucks travelling throughout Europe and Scandinavia.

The new Maxi Grip Winter range is yet another example of the excellence in tyre technology that results from Michelin’s unsurpassed ongoing programme of research and development.
Comprising the Michelin XFN+, XDS, XDW ICE GRIP and XDN Grip treads, the Maxi Grip range provides new levels of grip excellence and outstanding handling in the worst conditions of snow and ice found on exposed Trans European routes. Only the XDN Grip is available in the UK. However, UK fleet operators with trucks based virtually continuously on the continent can order all of Max Grip Winter range through their UK distributor.

Excellent cornering and braking are foremost among the safety enhancing qualities of the steer axle Michelin XFN+ tyre. This has been achieved by broadening the tyre’s crown and increasing the number of cross sipes to maximise the length of edges in contact with the ground.

Superb traction, especially in deep snow, is the most distinctive quality of the new Michelin drive axle XDS tyre. Deep, open sipes over the entire surface of the tread strip and shoulders characterise the directional tread of the tyre.

The XDW ICE GRIP drive axle tyre brings the ultimate Michelin technology for driving on ice and snow. 2,000 bi-directional undulating sipes (an innovation patented by Michelin) give the XDW ICE GRIP tyre an incomparably firm grip on ice.
The drive axle XDN Grip tyre is the only one of the new Maxi Grip range currently available in the UK. It features a new damage resistant rubber compound offering high mileage on wet and snow covered roads. The high mileage potential of the XDN Grip is equivalent to the best Michelin Drive patterns available and offers up to 15% more mileage than the XDN tyre. In addition XDN Grip tyres have a high retreading acceptance rate owing to the damage resistant tread compound and outstanding reliability of the Michelin casing.

No matter how much weather conditions deteriorate the main objective for hauliers is the safe and optimum performance of their vehicles. Michelin’s new range of winter tyres has been developed to deliver the ultimate in quality winter tyre performance.
