Commercial Vehicle testing

Filling out forms for vehicle testing has up to now been a necessary but time-consuming chore for test stations nationwide. However, Irish Company, ASC Software, are about to revolutionise the way in which forms for heavy good vehicles are issued and tests conducted, through the introduction of their new Commercial Vehicle Testing (CVT) software package.

Essentially the new CVT Software, which has been approved by the Department of the Environment, incorporates all the requirements of the workshop, customer reception, management reports and monthly returns. The software has already undergone six months live testing and is an aid to the tester as it automatically passes or fails complex tests such as the brake tests, tyre loading and emissions. “There is no longer any need for forms or paper work as CVT produces only one form for the customer to sign and a report which should be held on file for one year.

Monthly returns on the DOE can be made in minutes with 100% accuracy by e-mail or by floppy disc and CVT also produces a report for all tests if required, which gives a detailed account and location of a vehicle fault,” says CVT Software designer, Garren Bellew. However, this groundbreaking software is not only reliable and efficient but its touch screen technology makes operation simple and ultimately saves on both time and money. There is no typing required for any report on CVT and an experienced tester with no computer experience can use the system and be testing vehicles within hours. As well as official reports for the authorities, CVT also produces management reports such as the VT5 results or a letter/reminder to your customer stating when the next vehicle test is due.

The Department of the Environment support the new software for Irish test centres as CVT is seen as a, “simple, automated procedure.” “The main benefit is that the software will guide the tester through a test in a more structured fashion,” says Assistant Principal Officer of the Vehicle Standards Section, Eugene Shannon. In short, CVT Software will make testing far less of a headache, especially at the end of the month. No more paperwork, no more mistakes, no more hassle! ASC Software is currently touring Ireland with CVT and is contacting all test stations to show them how to get the maximum gain from their new technology.
