A1 - Schmitz Cargobull packs it in for Ford

Ford of Europe has developed a versatile communications vehicle based around the new generation Ford Transit van. The one-of-a-kind £100,000 mobile unit can be used to receive satellite TV broadcasts, edit video, host video conferencing and even broadcast radio transmissions via a land-line or the on-board satellite phone. The Transit was supplied for its unique role by A1-Schmitz Cargobull.

“This multi-functional vehicle answers many different communication needs for Ford at special events throughout Europe,” commented Neil Golightly, Ford of Europe’s Executive Director of Public Affairs. “We developed it primarily for us at car launches and motor shows, and it can also partner another special Transit - our Satellite News Gathering (SNG) vehicle, which is an ‘uplink’ unit designed to edit and transmit broadcast footage.”
