Innovation at GE TIP celebrated at Major GE Conference

Innovation has been the driving force behind General Electric’s (GE) rapid growth in Ireland, customers of GE Transport International Pool (GE TIP), were told at a major conference on GE in Ireland - inGEnuity 2002. GE TIP joined forces with 17 other GE businesses to showcase innovations in its trailer leasing services, at an event that attracted over 600 delegates. In addition to GE Betz innovations in trailer rental and leasing, GE businesses in Ireland have pioneered innovations across a broad range of products and services including diamond manufacturing, security systems, auto and specialist financing, while growing to become one of the major employers in the Irish economy.

GE first established a presence in Ireland over two decades ago and has grown to 18 businesses today, covering a wide spectrum of products and services and employing in excess of 2,000 people. At inGEnuity 2002, GE TIP, together with each of GE’s other businesses in Ireland, showcased products and innovations that ranged from diamonds to wind turbines, aviation financing, security systems, light sources, water treatment and consumer lending. The event was also used to profile the contributions of GE volunteers in community projects such as redecorating community centres and PC literacy skills in schools across the country. The Irish businesses are part of GE’s European operations, which enjoy a turnover of £28 billion and employ 70,000 people.

inGEnuity 2002, which took place in Dublin’s Mansion House, was opened by An Taoiseach, Mr. Bertie Ahern TD. Keynote speakers included the President and CEO of GE, Europe, Mr. Nani Beccalli, and the GE National Executive for Ireland, Mr. Dan O’Connor. The event attracted Ireland’s business leaders and representatives from key industry and state bodies. Students from Ireland’s top Universities also attended to discover the diverse range of career opportunities that GE offers.
