Whale Tankers in great shape
A new, fully equipped £1 million factory extension is enabling Whale
Tankers to make tanker bodies faster and to even higher standards.
Over the last five years Whale has spent £3 million on a new paint
shop, a strong mobile service fleet, new computer hardware and software
and, most recently, the new manufacturing facility.
Mark Warmington, Whales operations director, explained: The
investment was essential in order to meet customer demand and to increase
production efficiency. In todays market, it is essential to have
the best equipment to match customer expectations. This is one manufacturer
that is positive about the future and has invested for the long term.
Inside the new factory building there are five 6m wide work bays, a computer
numerical control (CNC) rolling machine capable of rolling all sizes and
shapes, a plasma profiling machine, an automatic seam welder and two 10
tonne travelling cranes which run the length of the structure. A column
and boom welder will be ordered later this year.
