Wincanton chooses Stralis

Leading European supply chain specialist, Wincanton, has taken delivery of its first three Iveco Stralis Active Space tractor units for use on its operation at PGN Basildon delivering finished New Holland goods and products to farm machinery dealers across the UK.

Wincanton opted for Stralis

The three Stralis AS440S43TX/P 6x2 mid-lift tractors will remain in the fleet for five years during which time they are expected to cover 1,000,000km each.
Finished in a distinctive blue livery, the Stralis tractor units operate in conjunction with tri-axle flatbed trailers and replace a fleet of EuroStars which were previously operating on this contract.

“The EuroStars had performed well on the fleet and so the Stralis was the logical replacement,” said Arthur Baldwin, General Manager Fleet & Engineering. “Since the vehicles entered operation we have had a lot of positive feedback from the drivers, who are particularly impressed with the amount of room inside the Active Space cabs,” he added.

Supplied by Birmingham-based Guests Trucks, the Stralis tractors are powered by Iveco’s 10.3 litre Cursor 10 engines, which are capable of producing up to 430 hp at 2,100 rev/min and up to 1,900 Nm of torque between 1,050 and 1,590 rev/min, driven through an automated Euro Tronic 12 speed gearbox.
