Mighty Kilowhale for Holford Contracts

Whale Tankers has designed and built an exceptionally highly specified High Volume KiloWhale JetVac tanker with an overhead boom for Staffordshire based Holford Contracts.

This versatile unit, mounted on a Volvo FM9 6x6 rigid chassis, is purpose designed to clean and maintain deep sewers. Equipped with a 70gpm at 2300psi high performance jetting pump it is capable of propelling jetting tools through blockages in pipes up to two metres in diameter. It also has an engine driven large liquid ring exhauster with an output of 100cfm that can operate in pneumatic conveying or vacuum loading modes, enabling it to lift wet and dry waste from vertical depths beyond 30 metres and from even greater horizontal distances.

As well as carrying out standard sewer cleansing tasks the new KiloWhale JetVac is being used to remove grit, stone and other heavy debris which could cause pumping stations to fail from deep wet sewage wells for transportation to treatment works or a licensed tip.

To meet new Health & Safety legislation relating to operators working over deep shafts the vehicle is fitted with a swinglift manwinch and a retractable lanyard. This equipment will be fitted to all Holford’s tankers. Other features include a hydraulically operated 5” bore loading boom with remote control, a grid lifter, heavy duty guards to protect equipment underneath the unit during offroad use and, in addition to the main hydraulically operated hose reel, 200m x 1” hose and compatible nozzles, it has a second hydraulic hose reel housing 60m xII” hose plus nozzles and a hand lance to clean smaller sewer and drain pipes.

Holford Contracts, founded 15 years ago, are specialist providers of repair and maintenance services for the utilities/sewerage sector throughout the Midlands. Customers include Barhale, Biffa and Severn Trent.
