Pritchitt teams up with Blackwater

Blackwater Engineering has supplied Ireland’s first 44 tonne (28,000 litre) milk collection tanker to Pritchitt Foods, in Northern Ireland , a division of Lakeland.

This development effectively marks the future of milk assembly. With new legislation regulating driving times, tachographs and weights, selecting the right tanker size takes on greater importance to minimise driving and collection time.

“We have no difficulty getting the tank in and out of farms we previously collected from with a 20,000L twin steer,” David Stewart, Transport Manager of Pritchett Foods commented. “Moving from a 20,000 litre to a 28,000 litre steer tanker is the equivalent to saving a load per day, preventing an additional night load in a smaller tanker,” he added.

The Blackwater tanker features innovative positive steering and customised elliptical design, maximising manoeuvrability and carrying capacity on narrow roads. Blackwater’s elliptical design with its low centre of gravity offers greater safety and ensures maximum carrying capacity without sacrificing durability because the tank is 1.5 metres shorter in length than standard cylindrical tanks it enhances manoeuvrability.

For over 35 years attention to detail, low maintenance, height safety, and driver friendly conditions have made Blackwater a respected name in the road transport. The Blackwater Milk Tanker range includes rigid/drawbar trailers (26 tonne & 32 tonne) and articulated trailers 38 tonne/40 tonne/ 42 tonne and the new 44 tonne. All new Blackwater tankers are covered with a three-year repair and maintenance warranty.
