The most recent tankers to be delivered to Wiseman are six 26,000 litre
articulated trailers. Wiseman has also recently taken delivery of five
16,000 litre rigid tankers from Crossland, which are fabricated from stainless
steel with a top box designed to ease cleaning and improve hygiene. The
tankers are mounted on tri-axle Volvo FM9 chassis cabs, with robust rear
cabinets to house all data capture equipment.
All the new tankers are operating on farm collection duties for Wiseman,
with three being used for direct milk supplies. John Kirk, Group Transport
Manager at Wiseman Dairies commented: We specified rear steered
axles for all the farm collection tankers to improve manoeuvrability around
farm yards. The rear steered axles also help to minimise tyre marks and
damage to farms.
He added: We are in the process of updating our fleet, and Crossland
have provided us with a large number of milk tankers over the last year
or so. The workmanship and build quality of Crosslands tankers is
of a very high standard. Crosslands ability to meet fairly tight
delivery schedules, coupled with competitive pricing, are the reasons
why we turned to them again when updating our fleet.
Wiseman Dairies is one of the UKs largest milk producers, distributing
over one billion litres of fresh milk per year. The company has a number
of dairies and distribution depots offering customers excellent coverage
throughout Britain. Not surprisingly, approximately 10 per cent of Wisemans
1,000 plus fleet are milk tankers, with a large proportion from Crossland.
