Dura-bright to shine in Limerick

If you are in the market for a set of high quality alloy truck wheels, you should check out Midland Tyres Services’ trade stand at the Irish Truck and Motor Show.

Borris-in-Ossory, Co.Laois based Midland Tyres Services is known the length and breadth of the country as a tyre supplier par excellence. However, not every trucker would be aware that the company is a main agent for Alcoa Wheels Products, one of world’s leading manufacturers of one-piece forged alloy wheels

To set the record straight the company is dedicating a large slice of its trade stand at the Irish Truck & Motor and Show to the Alcoa range. “Alcoa is probably the only forged aluminium wheel on the market and we can offer great original equipment (OE) deals for the leading marques including Scania, Mercedes, Volvo, Hino, etc,” company director Mark Kane explained.

It is generally accepted that aluminium wheels aren’t just as strong as a conventional steel wheel. However, the Alcoa range is the exception to the rule. ”We are promoting the Alcoa Dura-Bright range, which are actually seven times stronger than an ordinary steel rim. The range has a five-year unlimited mileage guarantee from the date of manufacture,” he added.

The philosophy behind the Dura-Bright range was to make the company’s one-piece, forged aluminium wheels even more attractive, by making them easier to maintain. “They are aimed at operators who take great pride in the trucks and buses,” Mark elaborated.

Regular washing with soap and water returns a Dura-Bright wheel to factory condition. There is no need to use special chemicals and there is no need for polishing, although the manufacturers recommend that wheels are wiped dry after washing to avoid water spots.

“You just wash them down with the rest of the truck and they come up like new every time. The shine doesn’t fade, corrosion won’t set in and the surface doesn’t discolour. They are a great asset on any truck,” he enthused.

Weighing in at half the weight of a conventional steel wheel, the Dura-Bright wheel can also deliver significant weight savings, for the weight conscious trucker, Mark noted.

After six-years of development the Dura-Bright wheel was launched in the United Sates four years ago and made its debut in Europe in the past 12 months.

Midland Tyres Services can offer significant deals across the range. “Most outlets would be charging you in the region of £600 per wheel, which would work out at about £3,600 for the typical truck. We can offer the same wheels for £800 less,” Mark enthused. Midland Tyre Services also offers a free nationwide fitting service and is more than happy to take the customers’ steel rims in part exchange.

Alcoa offers an alloy wheel to suit practically every application and every budget. “We have something to suit all budgets. We have a great alloy wheel to suit the guys working in sand and gravel. They come with a matt finish, rather than a polished finish and are ideal for construction trucks,” he concluded.
