Honourary Membership of the Irish International Freight
Association
By unanimous vote of the Council at its December meeting, Mr. Michael
Slevin and Mr Harry Hines were invited to be Honourary Members of the
Association in recognition of their services to the IIFA over many years.
Both have accepted the honour.

Mr Hines served two terms as President - 1992 and 2001. Mr Slevin who
has served on Council for 10 years has been Hon. Secretary of the Association
for five years.
Harry Hines, was a Director of Irish Express Cargo. He retired in recent
years after 23 years service. He continues to represent the IIFA on the
Customs Consultative Committee of which he is a founder member. He now
offers training and consultancy in International Trade through his company
Forward Training Ltd. It offers a number of courses on various aspects
of forwarding and customs clearance - both in-house and public some of
which are run in conjunction with IIFA.
During his years of service to the Association Michael Slevin, apart from
acting as Hon.Sec, also chaired the Sub-Committee on Standard Trading
Conditions and organised many seminars on Insurance and CMR issues.

With his background in marine insurance Michael was called on to serve
as an expert witness for Insurers in a recent case involving a member
of the association which concerned the successful use of IIFA Standard
Trading Conditions.
Mr. Slevin retires at the end of this month from DHL Freight where he
worked as an expert in claims handling/risk management/H & Safety
/ Security.
