Work
on the McNeads Bridge on the N4
|

- N4 McNeadsbridge to Kinnegad Road Improvements, Co. Westmeath. This
18month project connected the existing Mullingar N4 Dual Carriageway to
the M4 Kilcock to Kinnegad Motorway. The project consisted of 4.5km of
dual carriageway with bridges over the Royal Canal, Dublin Sligo Railway
and two other minor-road over bridges. This dual carriageway was constructed
on the line of the existing N4 thereby the management of the existing
high volume traffic was a major aspect of the works.
- Victoria Square Inner City Development, Belfast, Co. Antrim consisting
of the excavation and disposal of 250,000m3 of material most of which
was sleech material. The material was excavated to construct a 300-car
carpark basement and reached a depth of 11m below existing street level.
The excavation period was complete in 29-weeks. This £70 million
development, the largest private inner city development project in the
UK is due for completion late 2006.

civil engineering jobs pose few problems for PT McWilliams

- Derryclure Landfill, Tullamore, Co. Offaly, an engineered 30,000m2
landfill, involved the excavation and disposal of 250,000m3 of bog peat,
sand and gravel. The landfill was constructed with an imported clay-liner
together with associated infrastructure works in a 12month construction
period.
- Corranure Landfill, Co. Cavan. The works to construct two lined cells
and reinstatement of existing landfill involved the excavation of 150,000m3
of clay material of which 30,000m3 was screened and used as a clay liner
to one cell. The other cell was lined with BES (Bentonite Enhanced Sand).
The existing landfill was re-graded and capped with 10,000m3 of material
excavated from the cell. The construction period for the works was 12months.

- Mid-Ulster Sports Academy, Cookstown, Co. Tyrone entailed the construction
of 6 full size grass football pitches, 1 full sized astro-turf pitch,
club house with carpark and the site is circled by a 3.5km cycle track.
This is one of the leading if not best pitch facilities in Northern Ireland.
At present the Company has 2 major projects underway:
- Bridgewater Park Retail Development, Banbridge, Co. Down. This 88acre
plus project is located adjacent to the A1 Belfast to Newry dual Carriageway
and the works will entail a slip road on and off with a flyover bridge
over the A1. Works also include the infrastructure and site works for
an 83unit shopping complex. Both the site works and road works are to
be complete by February 2007.
- N52 Belvedeere Road Improvement, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, which comprises
of 4.5km of new single carriageway road, together with an overbridge,
cattle underpass, new box culvert for an existing stream and the re-construction
of the Belvedeere Hotel entrance. The construction period is 12 months
and is due for completion January 2007.
- On top of these major projects P.T. McWilliams undertake smaller and
shorter time frame contracts such as the capping of a landfill located
in Garvagh for the Coleraine Borough Council and Thomas Court Culvert
Extension for Cavan County Council. P.T. McWilliams also own and operate
a rock aggregate quarry in Cavan supplying quality aggregates to the public
and Cavan County Council.
In the next year the Company further intends to adopt the standards safetcert
