trailer repair experts boast one of the best-equipped and most extensive
diagnostic service centres in the country. With its state-of-the-art computer-based
diagnostic-and-repairs capabilities, BDF has forged partnerships with
all the leading trailer and brake system manufacturers.
Since its inception, BDF has established an unrivalled reputation in the
field of general body and mechanical repairs. The addition of diagnostics
to the list of services offered - coupled with the fact that BDF has met
approval criteria that few others in Ireland have managed - singles the
North Dublin concern out as true leaders in their chosen area of expertise.
Company directors John and Kathleen Friel are both fully qualified in
diagnostics. The technology can be applied to any trailer with computerised
systems on board. Problems and faults can be quickly detected and this
information is then passed onto the fitter, who can solve the problem
with a minimum of fuss or downtime.
BDF Commercials is fully equipped to carry out repairs to trailers fitted
with ABS and EBS braking systems. As an appointed WABCO and Haldex service
centre, it can not only diagnose and repair faults on these systems but
can also diagnose and repair faults on the Knorr-Bremse braking system.
As this is a PC-based diagnostic system, it is easily used in the workshop
or by a qualified engineer in the roadside assistance vehicle.
In addition, BDF is qualified to diagnose and repair faults in Electronic
Controlled Air Suspension (ECAS) and Trailer Central Electronics (TCE).
The company carries an extensive range of ABS/EBS valves, leads, sensors
and replacement ECUs (which are replaced and programmed on site).
BDF’s substantial list of service partners includes Wabco, Haldex,
Knorr-Bremse, BPW Limited, Daimler Chrysler, Kogel, STAS, Fruehauf and
SDC Trailers Limited.
The BDF Commercials workshop is conveniently located just off the M1 in
north county Dublin, easily accessible from the M50 and ideally located
for trucks coming from Northern Ireland or through Dublin Port. Here,
the highly competent team specialises in all aspects of trailer servicing
and repair, DOE preparation, fleet maintenance, and body and curtain repairs
and refurbishment. With a state-of-the-art five-bay workshop, BDF is capable
of servicing and repairing ALL trailers as well as carrying out electronic
braking diagnostics on trailers fitted with the above-mentioned systems.
A full breakdown and recovery service is also offered, deploying a breakdown
unit that is comprehensively equipped to meet all customer/vehicle requirements.
As well as roadside assistance, BDF can service trailers and carry out
curtain repairs on site. BDF Commercials carries out repairs on rigid
truck bodies (floor and curtain repairs) and – to facilitate the
smooth running of the company - carries an extensive stock of fast-moving
trailer parts including landing legs, lights, air bags, brake shoes, brake
pads etc.
A major development of the site means that BDF is now in a position to
offer secure long- and short-term parking facilities for trailers at reasonable
rates. A comprehensive stock of all BPW, SAF, ROR, Daimler Chrysler, York
and Fruehauf axle components is carried as well as an extensive stock
of air bags for most common type suspensions. BDF also stocks lighting
fixtures for all trailer types and crash kit bars.
As an appointed Kogel service agent, BDF carries an extensive stock of
Kogel body fitting parts, while electrical, body and mechanical repairs
can be conducted on all types of car trailers.
