Dublin Port Company and Topaz Energy sign deal to open
Irelands largest service station
EU7 million investment will bring a European motorway style station to
Dublin with facilities including fuel, washing, restaurant and rest rooms.
Dublin Port Company has signed a deal with Topaz Energy Group Ltd, which
will lead to the opening of Irelands largest service station at the gateway
to the Port Tunnel. In a deal worth over Eu7 million Dublin Port Company
will fund the building and infrastructure costs while Topaz Energy, the
operator of the Statoil and Shell Service Stations in Ireland, will be
responsible for the operation of the complex. Topaz Energy Group was named
the successful bidder following a procurement process undertaken by Dublin
Port Company.
Construction will commence immediately on the new service station which
will occupy over four and a half (4.5) acres and will be up to 4 times
larger than a typical Irish service station. The new facility which will
be located just 400 metres from the entrance to the Port Tunnel at the
intersection of Promenade Road and Bond Drive will open partially in October
of this year for truck re-fuelling and will become fully operational next
January.
The development which will be the first integrated forecourt and truck
park facility of its kind in the country will include:
Truck and car refuelling and wash facilities
Parking facility with capacity for 43 trucks
Truckers lounge with games room, internet access and shower facilities
Forecourt shop with Grab and Go hot deli
Full restaurant catering for breakfast, lunch and dinner
Commenting at the announcement of this significant investment in the Ports
facilities, Michael Sheary, Chief Financial Officer of Dublin Port Company
said:
The development of Irelands largest service station at Dublin Port
will further enhance our offering to customers. This investment is the
largest project of Dublin Port Companys infrastructure development programme
which has seen the company invest over EU185 million in port facilities
over the past ten years.
Danny Murray, Chief Executive of Topaz Energy added: There is a
huge demand for a modern, state-of-the-art fuelling and rest facilities
for the trucks and tourists, which account for well over a million people
passing through Dublin Port each year. We believe this new facility will
meet this need and add to the infrastructure of the port which has developed
significantly in recent years.
