New Maxus arrives at Healy’s

LDV recently launched their new range of Maxus light commercial vehicles which are set to take the Irish market by storm. The full range is now available from Jimmy Healy & Sons Commercials Ltd, main LDV and DAF dealers in Wicklow.

After much anticipation, the new range of LDV Maxus van has finally arrived on the Irish market. And it’s available to buy from Jimmy Healy & Sons Commercials Ltd in Ashford, Co. Wicklow.
Jimmy Healy & Sons Commercials Ltd are main LDV and DAF dealers based at Coynes Cross, Kilmartin, Ashford. Since the company was established in July 1992, it has forged an enviable reputation for excellence, and managing director Jimmy Healy believes his business has been greatly enhanced by the arrival of the new Birmingham-built Maxus range.

“We’ve had the LDV dealership since 1992, but compared to DAF, it hasn’t been a big seller for us. But I’m expecting all that to change on the back of the launch of the new Maxus range,” he says.
“The new Maxus is unrecognisible from the old model. It has been completely relaunched and I’m confident that it will give our business a big lift. Already, the new commercial and minibus models are proving extremely popular, and it mustn’t be forgotten that the Maxus won the Fleet magazine Van of the Year award for 2006.”

When LDV began designing, engineering and building a completely all new generation of Maxus light commercials, they set themselves a simple but challenging brief which they called ‘Refined Robustness’ - a driving aim to take all the durability, versatility and sheer hardworking capability of the LDV name and add to it new levels of refinement in performance, handling and style.

The Maxus is designed with insurance rating, security, service intervals and residual values in mind from the outset. A first class working tool, it comes in two wheelbases, three roof heights, 2.8 tonne, 3.2 tonne and 3.5 tonne GVW. The Maxus delivers comfort, ride, handling and performance coupled to passenger car safety standards. Electric windows, electric mirrors, driver’s airbag and CD player are all standard on the LDV flagship.
The new Maxus mpt and Bi-purpose models combine the loading carrying functionality of a van with the people carrying comfort of a minibus. With a choice of two wheelbases, two roof heights, seating configurations and all the usual Maxus benefits, your transport options are now multiplied.

The Maxus Bi-purpose can be tailored to match your individual requirements. Choose up to nine seats, a maximum 1,496 payload, two wheelbases and then add a whole host of accessories to suit your business.
The high-class Maxus Platinum range features every extra, including alloy wheels, air conditioning, privacy glass, steel bulkhead, electric windows, electric mirrors, CD player, driver’s airbag and an industry leading five-year/160,000km manufacturers’ warranty.
Currently a 15-seater high roofed minibus is proving particularly popular while further developments in 2007 will see the arrival of the new 17-seater mini-buses as well as the new 3 1/2 tonne chassis cab pick-ups and tippers later in the year.

Due to large differences in application, there are three different vehicle series – LF, CF and XF – dedicated to a specific area of application, three cab lines and four engine series ranging from 135 hp up to and including 530 hp.
In addition, a wide choice of models and component specifications is available through which the vehicle can be completely customized to personal and company requirements.
Jimmy Healy & Sons Commercials Ltd also stocks an extensive range of used vehicles at all times. All used vehicles are DOE tested and ready for the road.

Jimmy works in conjunction with John Donohue of Grove Motors in nearby Newtownmountkennedy, who handles servicing and parts of LDV and DAF vehicles. This novel arrangement provides local hauliers with a service that is, quite simply, second to none.
“We concentrate purely on sales, and leave the repair and service side of things to Grove Motors,” Jimmy explains.

Grove Motors is located at Main Street, Newtownmountkennedy, and is the main parts and service agent for LDV and DAF in the Garden County. The company was established in the Glen of the Downs in 1978, but has operated out of its present state-of-the-art facility since 1982.
Grove Motors offers customers a full service and parts package for all LDV and DAF vehicles, as well as panel beating, spray painting and vehicle recovery. Owner John Donohue says he is extremely busy – with up to 10 trucks and 30 units in his yard for servicing at any one time – and attributes this to the strength of the LDV and DAF product as well as the technical expertise and friendliness of his staff.

In preparation for the new Maxus’ arrival, John sent his technicians on a training course given by LDV in Dublin recently.
“We’re as up to speed on the mechanical side of things as we can be. The new Maxus is completely different to the old model, so we’ve had to familiarize ourselves with it. The early signs are good and the fact that it comes with a five-year warranty should attract a lot of interest from the public,” he says.
