No waste goes to waste
The disposal of all forms of waste has become a very contentious area
in recent years and there are many procedures and regulations to follow.
Boyne Waste has been operating for the past year and Terry Kearns, one
of its three directors, gives Irish Trucker a behind the scenes loot at
the running of the company.
The need for us to clean up our environment has never been more important
as it has been in the last few years. The days when illegal dumping was
common are gradually being put in the past, and although there has been
excellent work done to cut down on such incidents, there is still plenty
more to do.
Boyne Waste is a liquid waste management company that specialises in cleaning
lines and c.c.t.v surveying; industrial sludge removal, sump pump cleaning
and septic tank cleaning. All tasks are completed legally with the relevant
permits and other documents being produced by the company if and when
needed.
From its base in Rathdrinagh, Beauparc, Navan, Co. Meath, the company
provides a nationwide 24hr service to a large customer base that includes
local authorities in Meath, Kildare and Louth.
The fact County Councils are willing to hand out contracts to Boyne Waste
is a testament to the excellent service that they provide, and even though
they are a relatively new company, they have experience in abundance.
Terry has many years experience working in the industry until he started
the company alongside Tom Watters and Fintan McGeough in April 2006. Like
all fledgling businesses, they took a chance and it is one that they have
no regrets as the company continues to grow
We saw an opening in the market and decided to form the company.
It took about four months to get all the permits required for this industry,
while insurance is also a major issue, but fortunately we met all the
requirements needed, said Terry.
We specialise in liquid waste, industrial and household, while we
also carry out surveying and have built a large customer base, and we
are very grateful to all our clients, who we hope to have a long and prosperous
business relationship with for many years to come.
The company started off with two trucks, but now have a fleet of seven;
such is the volume of work that has come their way in just over 12 months.
With an experienced staff of 12 that are highly trained in their field
of expertise, customers can be guaranteed a quality and efficient service.
We are fortunate to have a reliable and well trained staff that
performs their duties to the best of their capabilities and without them,
the company would not be where it is today.
Terry revealed that the waste disposed of is monitored very carefully
and that there is plenty of paperwork to be completed for any particular
job.
All the liquid waste is disposed of safely at treatment works in
Navan, Dublin and Kildare. Every load is documented so that there is traceability
of all the waste that we transport. We are audited twice a year by the
environmental protection agency and everything has to be in order,
he stressed.
Boyne Waste provide bulk haulage service and vacuum tankers of 4,300
gallons or 6,500 gallons can be provided. Lower volumes or part loads
can also be accommodated.
In addition to physical haulage we can provide Local Authority and
EPA approved disposal options for your commercial and domestic liquid
wastes.
The company can provide Jet-Vacs for the cleaning of drains and blockages
that can occur in sewage or surface water lines. High volume Jet/Vacs
can be provided with 150 meters of 1.25 hose reel with an optional
additional 150 meters of 1.25 reel for the back of a four wheel
tractor unit. This additional 150 meters allows off-road access over the
roughest terrain.
The Jet/Vacs have an additional advantage in that, subject to the customers
requirements, they can provide a Pushrod Camera, which has its own power
pack, on any of their units. For smaller jobs or where access is limited
a small jetting van can be provided.
The camera unit is available to survey lines on new or old sites. A DVD
and written report can then be provided the next day if required, which
guarantees the customer a fast efficient service.
Terry admitted that if their work load grew then so too would the size
of their fleet and although they have no immediate plans to expand, it
is a situation that they will not rule out.
Basically, we will go with the flow, it all depends on the work
load. At the moment we can deal with what we have on, but in the event
of more contracts coming our way, there will be no hesitation to expand.
Boyne Waste is at the forefront of its field of expertise and as their
reputation for reliability and providing an excellent service to their
large customer base continues to grow, they are set for a bright future
in their battle against waste.
