And despite these difficult economic times, the company continues to be a significant employer in the area.

“We originally specialised in plant hire, and while this remains our core business, we have branched out into civil engineering and construction as well,” explains Patrick Lydon adding that, “the first 10 years have gone very well and hopefully the next 10 will be just as successful.”
The company has completed major projects to the highest standards of quality and safety for clients in the transport, utilities, housing, commercial, industrial, energy, waste and leisure sectors. It adopts a team approach and focuses on value engineering and innovation in order to achieve maximum value for its clients.
P&D Lydon maintains a strong skills base of managers, professional engineers and skilled personnel. The company’s large and modern fleet includes excavators, rock breakers, screening and crushing equipment, site machines, tipper and articulated trucks, and tractors and trailers.

Environment, health and safety and quality assurance are three important issues for P&D Lydon. The company’s health and safety policy is that work complies with statutory provisions and all reasonable practicable measures are taken to avoid risk to employees or others. The objectives of its safety policy are: the prevention of personal injury; the prevention of property and environmental damage; that safety priorities are laid down; that safety systems are monitored/updated on a regular basis.

In terms of quality assurance, P&D Lydon assures all clients that systems are in place to manage projects in an organised and professional manner from planning right through to handover. Each project is assessed in detail in advance so that the company is confident that it is in a position to commit the resources appropriate to ensuring satisfactory delivery to the client.

All suppliers and sub-contractors are drawn from an approved list so that a client’s project is not jeopardised by the use of a supplier or sub-contractor whose capabilities are unproven. Drawings and other contract documents are carefully registered and controlled to ensure that correct information is available to site at the earliest possible time, and revisions to client requirements are not overlooked. For more information about P&D Lydon Plant Hire Ltd and what it offers,
