For all your recovery equipment needs

The recovery industry is a specialised area that depends on specific vehicles and tools to perform the tasks necessary to run a successful business.

Recovery and Winch supply a wide variety of products

There are many recovery operators in Ireland, who have been providing a top quality service to many a stranded motorist and haulier down through the years.
Being in this line of business means that health and safety is of the utmost importance and there are plenty of rules and regulations to be adhered too. One of which, is that the proper equipment must be used and high quality parts can guarantee what is needed in this industry.
To this end, sourcing the materials and parts can be a pain staking affair with most companies in the past having to buy products from the U.K or even further afield.

However, there is an Irish based company that has been established for the last eight years which has seen its customer base expand by the month, such is the quality of service provided.
Recovery & Winch is based in Elphin, Co Roscommon and is run by Adrian Penrose, who spoke to Irish Trucker about the success of the business and his hopes for the future.
Supplying the recovery and transport industry with a wide range of products at competitive rates has been Adrian’s trademark since 2001. On time delivery is one of the keys to running such a business successfully and Recovery & Winch go to great lengths to guarantee that a customer will get their part when requested.

Superwinches are an essential part of the recovery industry

Indeed, a testament to the quality of service delivered by the company is revealed in the fact that the customer base has now swelled to a massive 3,400 clients.
Having had a background in the industry in the U.K, Adrian made the decision to set up his own business in Ireland and it’s a move that he has never regretted.
“I’m delighted with the way the business has developed over the years. Having worked in this sector beforehand really helped and I had a number of contacts to start with,” said Adrian.

“We are a small enough business with just my wife Caroline and son Martin involved, but we have built a huge customer base over the years. We offer a next day deliver service that covers the 32 counties. We use Interlink and DPD to transport the parts and we have a great relationship with them.”
The wide range of products available from the Roscommon based firm vary from electric and hydraulic winches from 2000lb (907kg) to 30000lb (13600kg) plus vehicle recovery equipment including light bars, beacons, webbing straps, chains, loadbinders etc, providing their customers with a vast choice from market leading brands such as Superwinch, Ramsey, Warn, Lodar, Prostart, Gojak, Haztec, Vision Alert, Wreckmaster to name but a few.

The business guarantee next day delivery

In addition, the complete range of hydraulic equipment and truck build accessories offer top quality with outstanding value to the recovery operator and truck builder alike including: hydraulic power packs, directional control valves, PTO’s and pumps, hydraulic cylinders, oil tanks and fittings.
Recovery & Winch is a member of the International Federation of Recovery Specialists (IFRS), which was set up in Ireland last year and Adrian recently displayed his wide range of products at the IFRS show held at Tullamore on July 11-12th.
The show gave us a great opportunity to display our products and promote the business and was one of the biggest of its kind in Europe.”
With over 3,000 customers to cater for, having a large stock is of the utmost importance as downtime is something that must companies strives to avoid.

“It is highly unlikely that we will not have a part of component that a customer is looking for as we have a wide range of stock at the premises. In the unlikelihood that we won’t have a part, we can guarantee to have it with the customer in a couple of days.”
Adrian stressed that unlike years ago when companies went to the U.K for their parts, Recovery & Winch is now cheaper than the majority of its rivals as they go to great lengths to source the cheapest quality components.

“We realise that in the current climate, businesses are going to shop around for the best deal and who can blame them. That is why Recovery & Winch go to great lengths to source top quality brands at the cheapest prices. It is essential to cater for the customers; otherwise they will take their business elsewhere.”

Despite the massive customer base, Adrian still refers to the company as a small firm and there are no plans to expand any further, particularly in the current economic climate that has left most businesses wary of their next move.
“The business is going ok and there is no need for any drastic changes. We provide a specialised and possibly unique service to the people of Ireland.”
