Mallow Commercials goes from strength to strength

With its new state-of-the-art premises, Mallow Commercials Ltd is better served than ever to provide a first-class service to its ever-expanding customer base. Company director James O’Sullivan Jnr explains more.

Looking for a new or used commercial to suit your needs? If so, main Iveco and Isuzu dealers Mallow Commercials are certainly worth a visit.
Since its establishment in 1987, this well-known family-run concern has established a tradition of value-for-money and total dedication to customer service. Mallow Commercials stocks a comprehensive range of Iveco and Isuzu commercials, light trucks, 4x4s and cars, and boasts a loyal customer-base which is the envy of many garages in the area.

If you are looking for a particular model, you’ll be able to sit in it when you visit Mallow Commercials’ impressive new state-of-the-art premises at Quartertown, Mallow, which is strategically located on the main N20 Cork-Limerick Road. If you are not sure what you are looking for, there is an extensive range of models available to help you choose the right vehicle for your needs.
“We stock the full range of Iveco and Isuzu models,” explains James O’Sullivan, who runs Mallow Commercials along with his father and company founder, also James.

“Both brands are well established in Ireland and have a reputation for reliability, value-for-money and excellence. All of our Iveco and Isuzu models are performing extremely well in what is a very competitive market. We have something to suit everyone and have customers coming to us from North Cork and much further afield.
“Our location is one of our biggest selling points. Mallow is known as the crossroads of Munster, being on the main Cork-Limerick Road and on the N72, which traverses Munster from Killarney to Dungarvan. We can be easily accessed from any part of the province,” he adds.
The Isuzu D-Max and N-Series ranges are extremely popular with customers. The D-Max is the ultimate multi-purpose pick-up truck which enables you to drive through tough roads, load a variety of cargo and tow heavy leisure equipments. The Isuzu N-Series is the clear choice for demanding commercials applications with the tested and trusted value around the world.

Launched in 2007, the Iveco Daily City Truck has proven to be a huge seller for Mallow Commercials. The Daily City Truck is built on a real chassis and although it drives like a van, it owes its heritage to Iveco’s heavier truck range. All van models get a full bulkhead, rear step, full height 270-degree opening rear doors and side mounted exhaust.
Both vans and chassis cabs are specified with heavy-duty springs and hydraulic disc brakes as standard. Both 5.0 and 6.6 tonne models are equipped with ABS anti-lock breaking, ABD (automatic braking differential), traction control and EDB (electronically controlled, load apportioned, brake force).

Ever since 1978, the Daily has introduced the greatest innovations seen in European light transport. In fact, each successive product generation has set new standards for light commercial vehicles – the chassis frame, direction injection turbo diesel, intercooler, natural gas engines, 17-cubic metre van with 210 cm interior height, common rail and 6-speed transition. The Daily was first to introduce these features onto the market and, in the process, set new benchmarks for the competition.
“I cannot praise the Daily enough – it has been a great success for us since we took on the Iveco dealership in 2001. We became Isuzu dealers in 2004 and that has also been proven to be a very positive development for the company.”
Mallow Commercials stock in the region of 30 new vehicles at their showrooms at any given time, which means the customer is always assured of a wide selection. With the recession biting the motor industry hard, however, there has been a renewed focus on used vehicle sales and servicing.

“People are definitely holding onto their vehicles longer now. The money just isn’t there for them to be changing their vehicle every couple of years,” James explains.
“In response to this, we have increased our services to include DOE standard servicing, valeting and after sales. We have three highly-qualified mechanics who will give your vehicle the full check-over. Being a family business-run business, we have the ability to give greater customer support, which gives us a vital edge over larger garages.
“Looking after our customers’ needs is always our main priority.”

Although Mallow Commercials has been in business since 1987, James O’Sullivan Snr has been working in the motor trade for much longer.
“He originally owned a haulage business called Landhaul before selling it on and getting into truck and van sales 30 years ago. That eventually led to him setting up this business 11 years ago. He has vast experience in the trade,” James Jnr explains.
Situated on a three-and-a-half acre site, Mallow Commercials recently underwent a major development which saw its workshop double in size. The O’Sullivans have been actively seeking Vehicle Testing Centre (VTN) status for their garage, but so far, they have been met with nothing but red tape and frustration.

“Our facilities and testing equipment are fully up to VTN standards. We’ve applied to both Cork County Council and the Road Safety Authority for VTN status, but there has been some kind of a stumbling block there.
“There is an opening for a testing centre in this area. At the moment, people in Mallow have to travel to Cork, Mitchelstown or Macroom for their tests. We do pre-DOE testing, but we won’t be happy until we secure that VTN status. We’ll keeping trying for it until we get it,” James Jnr concludes.

Mallow Commercials also offers a 24 hour recovery service and provides a truck, van and car wash service.
