More Parts opens for business

More Parts was recently established in Tullamore to cater for customers throughout the midlands. Founder Fergal Mulligan, who is also owns the successful Dublin-based company Midland Truck & Trailer Spares, explains more.

More Parts stocks thousands of genuine and non-genuine parts

Truck owners in the midlands need look no further than More Parts for their spare parts from now on.
Opened last November, More Parts stocks thousands of genuine and non-genuine parts at its 3,000 sq ft premises in Tullamore’s Cloncollig Industrial Estate. The premises will be familiar to many truck owners as it’s situated next door to Palfinger’s Irish headquarters.

More Parts is the brainchild of Fergal Mulligan, who has seen his other business, Midland Truck & Trailer Spares, go from strength to strength over the past decade. Fergal had identified an opening in the midlands market following the closure of Jennings Truck Centre, which had operated in Tullamore for many years, and recruited two of Jennings’ former staff to front the new business for him.
“There was opening for this type of business in Tullamore after Jennings’ closed down, and I decided to take it,” he says.

“I recruited Padraig Farrell and Shane Wynne, who had both worked in Jennings’ spare parts department, and they are basically running the business for me. They are two good lads who I’ve known going back to the time when Jennings’ were a customer of ours (Midland Truck & Trailer Spares).

More Parts is a sister company of Midland Truck & Trailer Spares

“They’ve brought a lot of Jennings’ old customers with them and have also unearthed a fair few new customers since November. We have Padraig out on the road selling for us, while Shane is based in the store.
“We’ve only been in business for a couple of months, but I have to say things have been going very well so far.”
A one-stop shop for all your spare parts needs, More Parts stocks a wide range of genuine and non-genuine high-quality parts for cars, light commercials, trucks and trailers. “Whether you’re looking for a part for a Mini or a 20-tonne truck, we have it. We pride ourselves on being able to provide every spare part there is.”

At present, More Parts has EUR70,000 worth or car spares and EUR130,000 worth of truck and trailer spares in stock. “We’re building up our parts portfolio all of the time. Our target market is haulage companies, car garages and bodybuilders,” adds Fergal.
More Parts are agents for all the leading brands, including ArvinMeritor (ROR), SAF, BPW and MotaQuip. ArvinMeritor is a premier global supplier of a broad range of integrated systems, modules and components to the motor vehicle industry, serving commercial truck, trailer and speciality original equipment manufacturers and light vehicle manufacturers.

SAF and BPW specialise in wireless solutions and axle and suspension parts respectively, while the Peugeot-owned MotaQuip is one of the world’s leading car component brands. More Parts carries spares for Hino, DAF, Iveco, Scania and Volvo to name but a few.
Fergal is hoping that More Parts will play its part in boosting business in the Tullamore area: “Like the rest of the country, Tullamore hasn’t been immune from the recession, but I’d like to think we are doing our bit for the local economy. We have only two staff at the moment, but hopefully this figure will increase in the coming years. Car and truck owners in this area had to go to Dublin for their spare parts before we came along. When you have a situation like that, it’s not good for the local economy.”

More Parts was opened to cater for customers in the midlands

A commercial vehicle mechanic by trade, Fergal Mulligan has already proved himself to be a successful businessman as the head of Midland Truck & Trailer Spares. Established 10 years ago in Rathcoole, Co. Dublin, the company is an end-user supplier of axle and suspension components throughout the country.

It has secured agencies for leading axle and suspension manufacturers such as ArvinMeritor, SAF, BPW and Dunlop. It also holds franchises for tool suppliers such as Beta, Laser and Deca and IngersolRand for air tools and compressors.
Midland Truck & Trailer Spares operates from a 3,000 sq ft premises at Greenogue Square, Rathcoole which is ideally situated to cater for the needs of a burgeoning customer base, including many blue-chip and semi-state companies.
Open from 7.30am to 6.00pm Monday to Friday and from 8.30am to 1.30pm on Saturday, the company is a veritable hive of activity. "We are just off the Naas Road and close to the M50, and the Lucan Bypass so we are very accessible to the customer. We have extensive opening hours and back that up with an 'out of hours' service, so we are always on hand to meet customer requirements," Fergal enthuses.

He continues: "Our phones are always switched on. We will never leave a haulier stuck. Coming from a mechanical background I know what it is like to be stuck for a part out of hours. Offering that level of service to our customers stands us in good stead. Our customers realise we will pull out all the stops for them and in turn they give us the business."
Fergal believes the key to the company's success is based on selling only quality genuine and non-genuine parts and backing that up with extremely high levels of customer service.

“We know there are cheaper parts on the market but we can offer a good back-up service with good quality parts. We are agents for all of the leading manufacturers, which also gives us an advantage," he adds.
Midland Truck & Trailer Spares has broken the country down into a number of geographic regions which are serviced at least once a week. "On Monday we are in the Cavan, Monaghan, Longford area. On Tuesday I cover Galway, Clare, Tipperary etc. Our customers know when we will be in their area and they ring in their orders in advance. We also use a network of couriers around the country for urgent deliveries. The fact that we have a base in Tullamore that operates the same opening hours makes us better equipped to cater for our large customer-base," he says.

Fergal also operates Greenogue Motor Factors which, like More Parts, supplies a full range of parts for cars and light commercials.
Fergal’s wife Elaine is also involved in the day-to-day running of the business. They have two boys, Jordan and Jason.
More Parts are holding an Open Night from 6pm to 8pm on March 23 in their Tullamore premises. Light refreshments will be served and a raffle for a weekend break for two (for existing customers) will also take place.
