Noose tightens on illegal hauliers

The Department of Transport is continuing its crackdown on rogue hauliers, who are undermining the euro three billion industry.

A confidential free phone number has been set up at the Enforcement Section, Road Haulage Division of the Department of Transport to encourage colleagues to report illegal operators.

The move has the backing of the 1,300 strong Irish Road Haulage Association who are encouraging members to "make that call".
