Brennan ready to break up CIE

Transport Minister Seamus Brennan is ready to scrap the ailing CIE group and replace it with three independent companies.

Mr Brennan is making the move in a bid to bring more competition to the market. Last year Irish Rail’s freight division lost euro 7.8 million.
