Cullen warns on tolls
Environment Minister Martin Cullen has warned public representatives in
the south-east that tolling on new roads in the region is inevitable.
Speaking at the launch of the South East Regional Authoritys Passenger
Transport Strategy in Waterford, Mr Cullen said that without tolling many
of the planned projects in the region, would not go ahead.
Plans for the future must be based on cold, hard facts and proper
analysis. There is no good in campaigning for infrastructural development
and then not wanting to pay for it.
Mr Cullen criticised those who opposed the tolling of the Waterford bypass
and claimed that other regions were keen to have similar projects in their
areas go ahead.
