Ministers are out of tune
The Mayor of Waterford has accused the ministers of Transport and Environment
of singing from different hymn sheets in relation to road tolling.
Transport Minister Seamus Brennan suggested yesterday, 5th November that
tolling would not be widespread, while Environment Minister
Martin Cullen said on Monday, 4th November that no major road projects
in the south-east would proceed unless they were tolled when completed.
Alderman Oliver Clery said he was stunned at Mr Brennans
comments in light of what Mr Cullen had said the previous day.
Transport Minister Seamus Brennan is considering the notion of charging
cars and heavy goods vehicles for the the privilege of entering the capital.
However, he is adamant that his first priority is to invest more money
in road infrastructure and public transport.
