Text traffic alerts

Text message traffic alerts in real time will be available from the Automobile Association at the beginning of next year.
The service developed, by Dublin based company Mapflow, makes it possible to detect the location of the user and deliver up-to-date traffic information to both O2 and Vodaphone customers.

The service can also be personalised to cover frequently used routes.
Dublin City Council's director of traffic, Owen Keegan speaking at an integrated transport conference earlier this week described the system as "the type of real time information service we would like to see flourish."
