Crude oil prices take a hike

Crude oil prices rose on world markets yesterday after the United States warned Iraq that failure to comply with the UN resolution on arms inspectors would result in a military attack.

International benchmark Brent crude rose to $23.94 per barrel on the back of the news. Despite yesterday's hike, oil prices are trading well below the September high of $30 per barrel.
