Borough council is coming south to fill up
A decision by Dungannon and South Tyrone Borough Council to seek tenders
for fuel from filling stations in the Republic has been strongly criticised
by fuel retailers in the North.
Councillors passed a motion on Monday night 11th November opening the
way for filling stations in the south to tender for the supply of council
vehicles with petrol and diesel.
Supporters of the motion claim the council could save £60,000 per
year if they sourced their fuel requirements in the south. The councillors
argue the decision will not affect retailers in the North because the
council currently deals with the parent companies.
