Speed detectors sell like hot cakes at exhibition
A Co Armagh entrepreneur has come up with a novel idea to help speeding
motorists beat the penalty points system.
Wayne Lyons of the Speed Camera Defence company showed off his wares at
the Toys 4 Big Boys Exhibition at the RDS in Dublin yesterday, 14th November,
and admitted he had taken "dozens of orders" for his radar detectors,
which range in price from euro 125 to euro 395.
A garda spokesman confirmed last night, 14th November that the use of
such equipment is illegal and the equipment could be confiscated. However,
it is unlikely that the threat of confiscation will deter 'boy racers'.
Strangely the sale, purchase and ownership of such a device is not banned.
