Northern drivers discriminated against by euro-only toll

Drivers coming from the North are far from impressed by the euro-only toll booths in place on the new Drogheda by-pass.

Even though they are located on the main Belfast to Dublin route, the automated booths only accept euros and this is causing obvious inconvenience to motorists from north of the border.

Due to the inflexible nature of the system, ten minute delays were reported at the only staffed booth on Saturday morning last (14th June).

Local Councillor Frank Godfrey is outraged by the situation, pointing out that “it is an insult to people from across the border”.
