Bridgestone opens new distribution hub
Tyre manufacturer, Bridgestone recently opened its new 75,000 square foot
distribution centre and offices in Balbriggan. Co. Dublin, claiming the
new facility will house the largest stock of tyres on the island.
Des Collins, vice president of Bridgestone Europe, who opened the new
distribution centre, which can hold a staggering 80,000 tyres said retailers
and consumers would benefit through increased availability.
The new distribution hub shows just how far the company has progressed
since entering the Irish market in 1990. He commented: "This new
warehouse is a symbol of Bridgestone's growth in the Irish tyre market
since it entered it 14 years ago. We now believe we are market leaders
in almost every sector. It is a dramatic achievement, considering some
of our competitors have been around for over 100 years," he stated.
The Japanese Bridgestone Corporation is the world's largest manufacturer
of tyre and rubber goods. It employs over 100,00 people worldwide and
its products are sold in more than 150 countries. Its European manufacturing
facilities are situated in Spain, France, Italy, Poland and Turkey.
