Clear growth for TNT Network Logistics
TNT Network Logistics, the rapidly expanding multi-user division of TNT
Logistics UK, has taken delivery of 250 Cartwright tri-axle clearspan
curtainsided trailers.
The £4.25 million order is the largest ever placed by TNT Network
Logistics with a single trailer manufacturer and the first to feature
a clearspan roof.
"We specified the clearspan roof, which has no posts along the length
of the trailer, in order to provide both easier loading/unloading and
a safer environment for drivers and operational staff," says David
Bermingham, Managing Director.
TNT Network Logistics operates a total fleet of 800 vehicles through its
network of 19 multi-user depots throughout the UK for more than 80 clients.
"The specification has evolved as we have worked with the team at
Cartwright," explains Mr Bermingham. "We have a wide range of
clients - from FMCG and children's toys to stationery and newspapers (through
the Newsfast operation) - so we know precisely what is needed to produce
the ultimate working trailer."
The order also includes 30 rigid vehicles, which are being bodies in Manchester
by Cartwright, manufacturers of high quality and innovative trailer products.
Additional features for the trailers include Cartwright DOE approved sideguard
aerodynamics, Knorr-Bremse KB90 Electronic Braking System, a 28mm Lamideck
floor with a 5mm steel chequer plate at the rear and a 10mm fifth wheel
plate designed to accommodate the intensive coupling and uncoupling of
a multi-user operation.
Mr Bermingham adds: "This is a major investment by the business in
state-of-the-art trailer technology. We have a long-standing professional
relationship with Cartwright and this has allowed us to work together
to produce the trailers most suited to our operations."
