Brennan makes tunnel announcement
Transport Minister Seamus Brennan has confirmed that the operating height
at Dublin Port Tunnel will remain at 4.65 metres, much to the chagrin
of the countrys hauliers.
Minister Brennan will made the announcement on Wednesday (August 18) at
the Dublin Port Tunnel.
The tunnel boring machine broke through at Fairview Park completing the
second 2.2 km tunnel.
Minister Brennans decision to leave the operating height unaltered
will come as a massive blow to the Transport Users Group (TUG) who
operate out of Dublin Port.
The group had campaigned to have the operating height at the tunnel increased
to 4.9 metres to accommodate so-called high cube trailers.
