Hauliers urge IBEC and ISME to get off the fence
The Irish Road Haulage Association is ploughing a lonely furrow
as it seeks to have the proposed ban on so-called super trucks over turned
and says it needs support from employer groups such as IBEC and ISME
To date business lobby groups IBEC and ISME have sat on the fence in relation
to the proposed ban. The IRHA is disappointed with this response and is
calling on industry to back the associations position.
IRHA President Eamonn Morrissey commented: Hauliers are disheartened
by industry in that they've allowed the road transport industry to plough
a lonely furrow on this issue despite the economic benefits of these vehicles
to their businesses. A height restriction is a short-sighted policy and
fails to take into account the rapid development and innovation within
the road transport industry.
