| Brennan dodges height
restriction issue at Dublin Port Tunnel Transport Minister Seamus Brennan has spurned an opportunity to confirm the operating height for the Dublin Port Tunnel. Minister Brennan was on hand on Wednesday (August 18) to witness the tunnel boring machine complete the second tube of the tunnel. The Minister refused to comment on what the operating height of the tunnel, which is due for completion at the end of next year, would be, although it is generally accepted that the operating height will remain at 4.65 metres. The Minister said there was very compelling arguments that any change to the height restriction would have safety implications. He said the height issue, along with a HGV traffic management plan for the city, and a maximum height restriction for trailers would be signed off by the Government next month.
