Callely will consult on maximum height issue
Junior Minister at the Department of Transport, Ivor Callely is committed
to conducting a consultation process with industry and other vested interests,
before introducing a new maximum height limit.
Minister Callely met a delegation from the IRHA at his offices recently
to discuss the new maximum height limit. The minister said he would embark
on a consultation process with industry at large and other vested interests
before making any decisions on a new upper limit.
IRHA President, Eamonn Morrissey commented: In reality, we are one
of the only vested interests. However, the people we carry goods for have
a vested interest. I sincerely hope IBEC take a proactive role in this
process. If they dont, they could be letting a big piece of their
competitiveness slip away.
He continued: I hope that this consultation is not being carried
out to make it look like fair play. I am concerned that some of the other
interested parties are giving the impression that the limit has been decided.
