Leading glass recycler introduces Bulk Powder Tanker
to fleet
Viridor Glass Recycling of St Helens, Lancashire has recently taken delivery
of a new 40m3 Tipping Dry Bulk Powder Tanker Tailer which has been supplied
by Bilston based Heil Trailer International to handle the distribution
of processed glass cullet.
The new Bulk Powder tanker trailer, supplied by Heil, is fitted with an
on-board weighing system, provided by Air Weigh Systems and is hauled
by a new Volvo FM12 6x2 tractor unit. The tanker is used for handling
processed glass cullet from Viridor's site at Wishaw in Glasgow and transporting
it to the company's customer, Superglass Insulation Ltd in Sterling, Scotland.
Viridor Glass Recycling is the largest recycler of flat glass in the UK,
with depots located in Glasgow, Birmingham, Peterborough, Faversham and
Cwmbran, and a total fleet of 20 vehicles. The core business of Viridor
Glass, formed in 1966 and acquired by Viridor Waste Management Ltd in
2002 (owned by the Pennon Group Ltd), is the collection, processing and
marketing of recyclable glass.
The new tri-axle tanker trailer is fitted internally with 5mm wear plates
to protect the tank shell from abrasive wear from the glass powder and
will ensure the longevity of the equipment.

The new Dry Bulk Tanker Trailer is used on a continuous 7-day operation
with two drivers working 4 days on and 4 days off.
