Leading glass recycler introduces Bulk Powder Tanker to fleet

Viridor Glass Recycling of St Helens, Lancashire has recently taken delivery of a new 40m3 Tipping Dry Bulk Powder Tanker Tailer which has been supplied by Bilston based Heil Trailer International to handle the distribution of processed glass cullet.

The new Bulk Powder tanker trailer, supplied by Heil, is fitted with an on-board weighing system, provided by Air Weigh Systems and is hauled by a new Volvo FM12 6x2 tractor unit. The tanker is used for handling processed glass cullet from Viridor's site at Wishaw in Glasgow and transporting it to the company's customer, Superglass Insulation Ltd in Sterling, Scotland.

Viridor Glass Recycling is the largest recycler of flat glass in the UK, with depots located in Glasgow, Birmingham, Peterborough, Faversham and Cwmbran, and a total fleet of 20 vehicles. The core business of Viridor Glass, formed in 1966 and acquired by Viridor Waste Management Ltd in 2002 (owned by the Pennon Group Ltd), is the collection, processing and marketing of recyclable glass.

The new tri-axle tanker trailer is fitted internally with 5mm wear plates to protect the tank shell from abrasive wear from the glass powder and will ensure the longevity of the equipment.

Ron Green, Logistics Manager of Viridor Glass recycling siad "We are really pleased with this new addition to our fleet. This is the first company-owned bulk tanker and we have found Heil to be very professional and helpful, offering an extremely high quality product which meets all health and safety regulations."

The new Dry Bulk Tanker Trailer is used on a continuous 7-day operation with two drivers working 4 days on and 4 days off.
