Spare parts prices to fall by 25 per cent

Truck operators can expect to pay up to 25 per cent less for genuine spare parts, under new EU regulations.

Under Block Exemption changes the cost of genuine parts, are dropping by 20 to 25 per cent, according to a senior EU industry figure.

Halmut Rohl, President of the International Association of Parts Distributors told the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI) that the price of parts exclusively made and distributed by main dealers must be reduced.

Mr Rohl said the European Commission has rolled out several measures to open up the parts market and bring competition to the sector.
