Longford bridge strike

Traffic on the Longford to Lanesboro road ground to a halt on Wednesday (April 6) when an articulated lorry got lodged under a railway bridge.

The truck struck a barrier that had been erected by the local county council to protect the bridge from being damaged in such incidents.

Eyewitnesses say the cab of articulated lorry had passed under the bridge when the roof of the trailer became entangled in low hanging safety barrier.
The driver of the truck escaped without injury.
