DAF TRP wins Royal Mail trailer parts deal

Following the success of a national truck parts supply contract, in place since 2002, DAF Trucks TRP parts operation has won an important supply contract for the Royal Mail's 1,900 strong trailer fleet.

The contract - won in the face of considerable competition - involves the DAF dealer network supplying parts for Royal Mail's trailer fleet to 27 workshops nationwide and covers a full range of OE quality trailer parts.

Royal Mail is one of the largest commercial vehicle operators in Europe with more than 33,000 vehicles of all types in its fleet and prides itself on efficient, cost effective supply arrangements. In providing for its truck contract, the DAF dealer network has already taken on the supply chain management of 128 Royal Mail workshops and will use this experience in servicing the trailer workshops.

Tony Shaw, Purchasing Manager of Royal Mail, said: The high levels of professionalism and support together with a competitive pricing structure give Royal Mail the confidence that DAF are fully committed to provide a first class service.

Speaking at the CV Show where the contract was signed, Trevor Mitchell, DAF Trucks Parts and Service Director, said: "The benefits to Royal Mail from this new contract include nationwide, competitive and harmonised pricing, the highest quality parts and full confidence in the DAF dealer network. We are delighted that the experience Royal Mail has had with the truck parts programme has led to them selecting us for this new contract."
