Six arrested in illegal dumping and money laundering probe

Six people – four men and two women – have been arrested as part of a cross border investigation into money laundering linked to illegal dumping in the North.
Three men, aged 32, 42 and 61 and two women, aged 32 and 44, were arrested in Derrylin, Co. Fermanagh, while a fourth man aged 38, was arrested in Derbyshire, England.
It is understood up to 150 officers took part in 18 searches in Belfast, north Antrim, and Fermanagh, while an illegal diesel laundering plant and ancillary machinery were seized in Derbyshire.
The operation follows an investigation into illegal dumping on both sides of the Border over the last six months.
Garda sources say the joint operation is focusing on three areas of criminality – illegal dumping, money laundering and the theft of heavy plant and machinery.
